Print out the attachments A, B, C and D and use the glasses you have been prescribed. See the tab Visual Aids. The high-powered lenses should magnify more than 6x, preferably 8 to 12 times. You will only have a lens in front of your best eye and will have to hold the text close to the high-powered lens – usually 2 to 4cm from the lens!
Move the text from right to left and hold your gaze above (or below) the text, using the fixation- or Line guides to help maintain steady fixation. You can read out loud so that you can hear if you read incorrectly because you are trying to look directly at the words. Instead you should be attempting to use your BRA by thinking of which direction you should look and trying to maintain steady fixation. Read three pages twice a day until you feel as though you have found, and can maintain steady fixation – your eccentric fixation.
